Bar and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations

One of the most memorable days in a young person’s life is the day upon which he or she becomes a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. It is the day upon which each takes his or her rightful place as an adult member of the Jewish community.

Tifereth Israel is dedicated to making every Bar or Bat Mitzvah a special occasion. Each of our celebrants chants the Torah and Haftarah portions, leads the service, and delivers a D’var Torah (speech). For an entire year before the service, in addition to their regular Torah School classes, each child meets with a private tutor, on a weekly basis to prepare. All students receive customized study and preparatory materials. All parents receive a Bar/Bat Mitzvah Handbook and personal guidance to help them get ready. Our rabbi spends time with each student and family to insure that every service is unique and meaningful.

Our beautiful Cohen Social Hall is available for kiddush luncheons and evening receptions.

Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations take place during our regularly scheduled worship services to insure that each one is a celebration for our entire community.

Tifereth Israel is an egalitarian congregation. Boys and girls participate equally in the service and receive the same education and preparation.
