Voices of our City Choir is helping San Diego’s unsheltered neighbors with hope and dignity through the healing power of music. VOOCC gives a voice to the voiceless and supports individuals experiencing homelessness through the recovery process which, in turn, benefits all of society. Tifereth Israel is honored to host an afternoon filled with music, stories, and hope.

The choir performs with a live soul/R&B/jazz band comprised of award winning musicians. Through their concerts, they offer an opportunity to see people experiencing homelessness as people – human beings with hopes and dreams. Their shared stories make it clear that anyone could become homeless at any time.

RSVP by March 18th and save!

The price of tickets goes directly to support VOICES. To date, they have helped over 50 individuals move off the streets and into safe shelter. More about Voices of Our City Choir

Since August of 2016 Voices of Our City Choir has been transforming the perspectives on homelessness while simultaneously lifting up and bringing hope to the individuals experiencing it.

Choir co-founder and Executive Director Steph Johnson started out with a vision of helping the unsheltered community through fellowship and music, and Voices of Our City Choir quickly grew to a non-profit that to date has helped over 50 individuals move off the streets into shelter and/or permanent housing. Now a fully fledged organization, Voices meets weekly for rehearsals that are complete with catered lunch, guitar and songwriting classes as well as a food and clothing distribution.

By employing a case manager, programs director and administrative staff, Voices of Our City Choir continuously supports and encourages its members to move forward with their lives while performing across California with top notch musicians at world renowned venues. The choir has been the subject of a national PBS Documentary The Homeless Chorus Speaks, performed with the San Diego Symphony and recently played a sold out concert at LA’s Historic Wiltern Theater with Jason Mraz and member of The Doors.

There’s so much more to learn about this amazing group and their efforts. Take a moment to visit their website and learn more.
