Cantor Hanan Leberman will continue to share music and stories surrounding some of the liturgy that we have a strong association with during this second in the series. Together, we’ll develop a deeper connection to, and understanding of, several pieces.
Both events will be recorded.
The Emotions of Yom Kippur
Saturday, September 5th, 7:45 p.m.
On this evening we’ll take a deep dive into the very emotional side of the holiday liturgy including:
- How a little boy with no knowledge of the prayers spoke directly to God and saved his community on Yom Kippur. This is my favorite story of the Baal Shem Tov who played his flute in a very observant synagogue on Rosh Hashana.
- How the song ‘Avinu Malkeinu’ brought someone back from the dead.
- Hanan will share a story of a deaf man in a shtieble (Yiddish meaning “little house” or “little room”). We’ll hear the song that makes EVERYONE cry.
