Shabbat San Diego Is…
Shabbat San Diego is an independent grassroots level community-wide, inclusive organization of volunteers dedicated to encouraging the entire San Diego Jewish community to participate in a unique, international Jewish identity event that inspires all Jews to experience Shabbat together. The International Unity Shabbat will take place in more than 1500 cities and 101 countries and 10 languages around the globe. For the first time, we’ve added a Community Day of Learning, Tapestry on November 17th in conjunction with the LFJCC and Partners in Torah which will explore diverse aspects of Jewish thought and practice.
Our Days Together
During these days, millions of Jews throughout the world will participate in an International Unity Shabbat. Tifereth Israel is happy to be a partner and provide a meaningful Shabbat to all. Our weekend’s events are open to the entire community, both affiliated and unaffiliated, Jewish or not. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Challah: Because no one ever made friends with salad!
Join us for an unforgettable evening learning the art of making challah. Participants, of which we anticipate more than five-hundred, will take home ready-to-bake loaves. Bring your friends and family, women, men, children, Jewish or not.
Children are welcome to join us!
We’ll have opportunities for families with young children to enjoy the event. A “FUN ZONE” will include: colored dough to make rainbow challah (or any other fun ideas!), a face painter, and more! Child care will also be available.
Reservations are required for the Challah Bake
Visit the Shabbat San Diego Website and make your reservations. This is mandatory whether or not you are a volunteer
In the days leading up to the event, we’ll need helping hands to assist in putting together kits for the Challah Bake; measuring, packing items, etc. We’ll also need plenty of help setting the room the day of, greeting guests, as well as assistance with clean-up.
If you’d like to get involved, please email Beth Klareich or call her at 619 697-6001, ext. 108.
