Are You at Risk for Getting Ashkenazi Genetic Diseases?
Thursday, October 15th, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Did you know that Ashkenazi Jews are prone to genetic mutations that may increase the risk of developing certain diseases?
Most notable are the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes which increase the risk of developing breast & ovarian cancer at an early age. They also increase the risk of a man developing prostate cancer, both at an early age and in a more aggressive form.
- Increase your awareness of diseases that are caused by genetic abnormalities amongst Ashkenazi Jews
- Learn about screening tests that can identify them
- Become familiar with interventions to reduce the risk of getting such diseases
Following the event, ‘a chat room’ will be available to all registered guests from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. More details are here.
