About Miriam Camerini
Miriam Camerini was born in Jerusalem on Purim night of 1983 and grew up in Milan, Italy. Her family has been in Italy for over 500 years; she has absorbed Italian Jewish traditions from her father, music and food recipes from her mother, aunt and grandmothers. Her family has been involved in theatre and music for generations: she brought it all together by founding a Jewish theatre in Milan (Benhashmashot) and writing a book on food and religions (Ricette e Precetti, Giuntina 2019). Miriam is a theatre performer, writer, and rabbinical student at Beit-Midrash HarEl in Jerusalem, one of the first orthodox institutions in the Jewish world to ordain women rabbis. She might become the first woman orthodox rabbi of Italy.
