How do we handle the emotions that our children are experiencing during COVID-19? Depending on their age, children may be acting out, or turning inward, in many different ways. Whether it’s the interruption in routine, lack of in-person peer socialization, concerns about school, or a myriad of other worries, children are being impacted by the current state of affairs. We are grateful to have Jacqui Small join us to address concerns and answer your questions.

About Jacqueline Small

I have over 23 years’ experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families providing individual, couples and family therapy in both Philadelphia and San Diego. I managed a school-based program in San Diego County for 15 years providing an array of mental health services to children and adolescents with severe emotional and behavior problems. I have also worked as a Medical Social Worker at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego for the past 17 years providing supportive counseling to children and their families during a medical and/or health crisis and previously held leadership roles as the Supervisor and Manager of Medical Social Work and Child Life.

I have extensive training in Behavior Modification and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and specialize in working with various disabilities including but not limited to: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder/Attention Deficit Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, trauma and bereavement.

I have a passion for working with children and adolescents who have emotional and behavioral challenges and find children to be resilient, intriguing young individuals. I also have extensive background in grief and loss and enjoy working with children and families who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
