Book of Remembrance

Book of Remembrance 2022 / 5873

One of the strongest emotional moments that we experience during the High Holy Days, and especially on Yom Kippur, is recalling the memory of those loved ones who have meant so much to us and have gone on to eternal life.

To enhance the Yizkor memorial service, Tifereth Israel Synagogue will again create our own Book of Remembrance. This is a beautiful opportunity for us to honor and remember all those who have greatly impacted our lives. The Book of Remembrance will be used on Yom Kippur and throughout the year when we recite Yizkor on Shemini Atzeret, the last day of Passover, and the second day of Shavuot.

Yizkor means "may (God) remember." The central element of yizkor is the commitment to make a charitable donation in honor of one's departed relative. In this way, we become partners with our departed relatives in building up our community.

We encourage all members and friends to take part in our Book of Remembrance. You may do so by completing this form. The final date for submission for all entries is Friday, September 16th, 2022.

Wishing you and all those you love a Shana Tova u'Metuka, a happy and sweet New Year.

Looking forward to seeing many of you in person soon,

Debbie Mishek
President, Tifereth Israel Synagogue
