About Sisterhood

Tifereth Israel Sisterhood is a social, philanthropic and service organization within the Tifereth Israel community. We offer Jewish women, as well as men, a place to gather, socialize and strengthen the bonds that connect us.

Sisterhood is a member of the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, a branch of the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism. Through this network, we support the mission of enhancing Jewish knowledge, engaging in Jewish life, expanding communal involvement, and supporting Klal Israel.

We Serve Our Children

Sisterhood provides financial support to Tifereth Israel’s Silverman Preschool and Abraham Ratner Torah School. Sisterhood also awards scholarships to Camp Ramah each summer and funds special events for our children. Before the High Holy Days, we provide a shofar to each Torah School student along with a lesson and demonstration. This fosters their active participation in the services and a deeper connection to Judaism.

We Serve Our Congregation

Sisterhood prepares and serves home-baked sweets after Friday night and Saturday Shabbat Services. Our members help the congregation plan and provide various programs and activities throughout the year. We organize special luncheon visits to members of our congregation who reside at Seacrest Village, the Jewish residential facility for long term care and assisted living.

Sisterhood provides an annual T’rumah and other financial donations to Tifereth Israel Synagogue for both capital improvement projects and service to the membership.

We Serve Our Community

Throughout the year, Sisterhood participates in projects that seek to remedy and address vital needs within the community, regardless of faith.
