Chumashim in Need of Rebinding
Approximately ten years ago, through the generous support of our members and friends, Tifereth Israel Synagogue acquired new Chumashim (Five Book of Moses). Through the years, these Etz Hayim Torah and Commentary books have been well-used by our congregation for Shabbat and holiday services.
They have been thankfully used so much that they are now showing their age. Unless we act now, the damaged Chumashim will soon be worn beyond repair.
It has been said that a Chumash that is falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t. The well-worn pages of a Chumash tell a beautiful story of lessons learned, questions asked, and teardrops fallen. The worn bindings of our Chumashim reveal the strength of our prayers.
We have had excellent experience with a local bookbinder that can repair and renew our books, preserving many of the original covers.
If you would like to contribute to this preservation effort, you may do so by donating online or by calling the office at (619) 697-6001.
We wish you a happy and productive summer and look forward to sharing Shabbat and High Holiday services with you.
Shalom,
Rabbi Leonard Rosenthal Dr. Michael Mantell, Religious Life V.P.
