When my wife and I returned to San Diego several years back and were looking for a shul to join, we found ourselves a little more than disappointed in the distant attitudes we encountered at far too many synagogues.

Until we found Tifereth Israel. Almost as soon as we stepped through the doors, members of the congregation were introducing themselves and treating us like family. Dinner invitations soon followed. In no time, we had become part of the community.

Today, I am honored to serve as president of the first Conservative congregation in San Diego, a congregation that isn’t afraid to adapt while holding on to the traditions so many of us hold so dear. From marching in the San Diego Pride Parade and supporting interfaith couples to being among the few synagogues with a daily morning Minyan so anyone can say Kaddish for a loved one, Tifereth Israel is here for you.

Tifereth Israel has certainly been there for our family.

Thank you so much for joining us. Whether it is for a service or two while on vacation or for the long term, you will always be welcome at Tifereth Israel Synagogue.

Warmest regards,

David Ogul
TIS President
