Wednesday, February 28th at 6:15 p.m.
Join us as we retell the story of Esther, Mordechai, King Achashveros, Haman and the Jews of Shushan.
Cantor Hanan Leberman will be joining us for the holiday and will bring his enthusiasm and animation to our family-friendly Purimshpiel.
We’ve pored over songs from the last several years’ scripts including Motown, Nice Jewish Boys, and Hairspray, and have chosen a few of our favorite pieces to be performed in conjunction with Hanan’s abbreviated and vibrant chanting of the Megillah.
This annual event brings in hundreds of visitors and you’ll want to be one of them! As always, our show is open to all and free of charge so be sure to invite friends and family to join the fun.
Shake it for Haman and Do a Mitzvah!
Put your hands up in the air with boxes of “noisy” food (macaroni, couscous, cereal, etc.) that you’ll bring to use as groggers to drown out the name of Haman. After the show, we’ll collect all of the items and donate them to JFS HandUp Youth Food Pantry. Bring other non-perishable items to contribute, too!
Traditional Megillah Readings
Following the Purimshpiel, a complete Megillah reading will take place in the Goodman Chapel at approximately 7:30 p.m. A full reading of the Megillah will also take place on Wednesday, March 1st, during an earlier-than-usual Minyan at 7:00 a.m.
